2 simple ways for the SEC to regain trust

Filed under: Editorials — Tags: — Jeff Fitzmyers @ 3:42 pm

Few trust the SEC or Wallstreet with good reason: Neither are doing what they said they would do.

1) Enforce the no naked short selling rule. Not just with a few cherry picked stocks, but across the board.

2) Massive transparency and fewer rules. For instance, insiders should be able to do what they want with their stock — with the requirement that changes are published in real time. Let the market decide what the actions mean. What does “Automatic Sale” really mean?? Who knows? It is just a euphemism for selling stock. So just call it that.

For example, front running a problem? Publish all trades AND who (which broker) executed them at the end of the day. Clients can then check for themselves.
